Jose Figueroa - Stunt/Action Director
Jose’s 20+ years in Chinese martial arts includes unrivaled success as America’s premier internal Chinese martial arts competitor. In recent years, under mentoring by Mr. Stephan Berwick, one of the early pioneers in Hong King films (Highlander End Game, Blade 2, Matrix, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon), Jose has emerged as one of New York’s favored theater choreographers for his pioneering work with jazz playwright, Fred Ho. Jose directed the martial arts choreography for Ho’s off-Broadway premiere of Journey Beyond The West: The New Adventures Of Monkey at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's 1997 Next Wave Festival and Voice of the Dragon (aka) Once Upon aTime in Chinese America, a martial arts epic national tour produced by Big Red Media and toured by Columbia Artists in 2003. His final collaborations with Mr. Ho included The Black Panther Suite at North Eastern University (2003), Journey Beyond the West at the Guggenhiem Museum NYC (2003), and Shaolin Secret Stories “Voice of the Dragon II” at the world famous Apollo Theater in NYC (2004).
